The algorithm used to perform the fingerprint match is a unique, advanced autocorrelation technique based on the concept of Moire fringes. The algorithm examines the pattern of the whole finger which it then uses to determine if a match is successful. The algorithm examines macro features from the whole finger, and therefore is much less susceptible to finger damage than normal "minutiae" based systems which examine micro features. This approach gives Verid a very small template size, low processing requirement and a matching time of less than a second.
